Nootka Lupine
Early summer (summer starts in June in Alaska) brings TONS of Nootka Lupine to Homer Spit and to roadsides all over coastal Alaska. This 3 ft tall, bright blue flower covers sunny roadsides, riverbanks, and similar spots, especially where there are sandy soils. This photo was taken on June 14, 2022 along the road on Homer Spit, and in the background are the tidal marshes of Mud Bay. Beyond you can see the blue water of Kachemak Bay and further still the Chugach Mountains.
